Let Cafe Connect host your Christmas party!

Tis the season for giving and good cheer

Let Café Connect host your Christmas party this year.

As a social enterprise all proceeds go to local charity, Bristol Reconnect.

Bristol Reconnect builds bridges between people who face severe and multiple disadvantages, and the wider community. These disadvantages include things like homelessness, addictions, mental health problems, imprisonment and other severe challenges. Bristol Reconnect enables people with these experiences to re-engage with their communities. And we help to build resilient communities that can engage with and create opportunities for their socially excluded members.

We are offering a Christmas party with a difference this year, not only does your money go to a good and local cause, the food will be both ethically and sustainably sourced. You have exclusive use of the café and beautiful outdoor space, with a lovely little wood burner, additional meeting spaces are available.

The food will largely come from surplus, which will be magically transformed in to either a traditional (vegetarian/vegan) Christmas dinner, or, if traditional isn’t your thing, how about an Indian feast? Don’t worry, the food will be so good even the carnivores won’t notice the missing Turkey. A great selection of hot and cold seasonal drinks will be available.

3 courses will be offered at £15 pp, the price of a buffet from Revolution! The venue can seat 28 people in one room, for larger parties we can explore using upstairs space. We offer BYOB with a small corkage fee.

Situated on St Marks’ Rd the Café is convenient for businesses based in Bristol East, but also has good parking and public transport options. Lunchtime or evening bookings available, just get in touch to discuss the dates.

This is an opportunity to have a bespoke Christmas party, so just let us know what you need.

IF group to help deliver new ROADS services with BDP

It has just been announced that the IF group is now going to be an official partner in developing involvement of people with lived experience in two new substance abuse services in Bristol. These are ‘Early Engagement Services’ and ‘Substance Misuse Liaison Service.’ This is an exciting development for the IF Group and reflects the expertise and reputation that they have gained for using lived experience to improve local services.

Want to see what we’ve been up to recently…?

Volunteer day!

Could you spare a few hours and help Cafe Connect get ready for it's breakfast launch? We'll be clearing the garden, doing bits of DIY and generally have a Spring clean, lunch and drinks will be provided. Hope to see you there!

Jonathan Fowler

"I see my expertise as being mainly as a facilitator; supporting everyone to work well together, to appreciate the very different things we all bring to our work, and to challenge ourselves to give the best we can. Our work is about listening to people in the communities we work with. We listen out for voices that wouldn't otherwise be heard. And we support the people we work with to be at the heart of the changes they want to see. We need to be doing this within the team too, if we're going to reach out to the wider community."

"I bring experience as a group therapist to my work. This experience includes ten years in a specialised secure clinic working with psychiatric patients deemed too complex and intractable to work with in other psychiatric hospitals. Prior to that I'd worked in community (arts) organisations (since 1983) and for the last fifteen years I've largely worked to give people with lived experience a voice in the services that work with them - mainly mental health service users and services working with people with 'complex needs'. I know the value of lived experience, and my own experiences of being homeless, of alcohol and substance misuse, and of requiring mental health support in my late teens and early twenties are part of what steers my work."

4th February Volunteer Day

Would you like to help improve & maintain a community building?

On Saturday 4th February there will be a full day of volunteering from 10.30am. Join us for the whole day, or just for a couple of hours. We will be making small repairs, fitting new shelving, sanding, painting etc. Great if you've got strong building or decorating skills. But everyone is welcome who is willing to roll up their sleeves.

There's work needed to further improve Café Connect and help us complete the meeting rooms upstairs - getting them ready to open.

We'll provide a delicious lunch and drinks...
